What8 mile Cross Country run around the Coombe Abbey Country Park. (approx 12.9km). The Sphinx AC Coombe 8 has been designed to be stretching enough for experienced runners, yet accessible enough for more casual runners. It combines some path running, some woodland running, some field running and even takes you through the bomb craters left by the Luftwaffe during the blitz of Coventry in WW2! Not hills boys! Organised by Sphinx AC. ![]() When28th November 2010. 9am Start. WhereCoome Abbey Country Park. Coventry. ReportThree Dog and Bear members ran in the 2010 event. The temperature at 8am was recorded at -8 by the marshals and even after all was done and dusted it was still a chilly -1. Combined with the snow from the day before, this was more and ice event than mud and water! We stayed as a pack until 6 miles when Ross stretched his legs and pushed on ahead to finish in 1:14:15 (pos 189). Scooby stayed back with Baloo, both finishing in 1:18:02 (pos 205 & 206). In total there were 225 finishers. The course was superb and there was an excellent number of marshals around the course to keep runners going in the right direction remaind cheerful despite the cold weather. This event is recommended for next years calendar. Fantastic! T-ShirtThe quote on the front of the shirt reads:- "Cross Country: No free kicks, no half times, no time outs, no substitutions. It must be the only true sport." -Anon |
